Fire Performance Supports Tsunami Relief Efforts in Samoa

Samoa was declared a national disaster after Tuesday's 8.0 earthquake triggered a tsunami. Waves between 10 - 25 feet high pounded South Pacific villages leaving as many as 150 dead with hundreds more injured and missing.

The cities of Carson and Long Beach, California are home to the largest concentration of Samoans in the United States, many with family who live on the islands. These cities are also home to large Fire Knife Community. Fire Knife dancing is a tradition that has been passed from generation to generation, demonstrating style, boldness and skill.

So, how can we, the Fire Performance Community, help?

# 1 - Buy a Fire Knife and Trick Concepts will Donate 50% of the sale to the American Samoa Relief Fund:

That's right. From now through the end of October 2009, Trick Concepts will donate 50% of any Fire Knife purchase to the American Samoa Relief Fund which will go towards helping those who lost their homes in the tsunami.

# 2 - Donate Clothes, Water and Canned Goods:

Bring your donations of water, canned goods and clothing to the Samoan Congressional Christian Church of South Los Angeles at 1249 E. Carson St., Carson, CA 90745.
