What regulations cover fire art installations?

NFPA 160 (National Fire Protection Association)

You can pay like $35 online and print out the pdf version. This will let the Fire Marshal's know that you are a serious fire performer and not some random arsonist. Also, be prepared when you talk to him: Have a safety plan all worked out before hand addressing things like Safety Personell and Fire Safety Equipment (Duvetyn, wet towels, and a fire extinguisher).
